Half Truths
I only read the part from Umar till fall of Mukhtar so can only comment on that
The Author has does a great job of cherry picking his sources, he relies heavily on Sean Anthonys and Wilfred Madelung's works.Nothing wrong with these scholars but rather than giving a summary of their conclusions he seems either to not understand their arguments or misquotes them which misleads the reader.
In summary his argument is no different than the sunday school sunni version that a crypto-jew/sabean infiltrated and destroyed the nascent islamic state. But truth defies simplicity and the author ignores the rise of regional politics, the tribal rivalry, the inter tribal alliances and the economic factors that led to the fall of Uthman's caliphate.I think the reader would be better of to get themselves well acquinted with the biographies of the major and minor personalities involved in the first and second fitna so they can get a more nuanced view of these historical events

The Secret History of Iran Hamad Subani 9781304082893 Books Reviews

If you are interested in knowing more about the history of Iran, then this book is a good read. I bought it because I was curious if there is a link between the illuminati and Iran in present times. According to the author, there is the illuminati were behind the islamic revolution of 1979, Khomeini was on the payrol of the CIA, Iran had its say in the choice of Hamid Karzai as a president of Afghanistan (who was a puppet of the US), it's full of illuminati symbols in Iran etc.
